Dan Henry's biking interests were wide ranged. He lead bicycling tours in Europe and the USA with the International Bicycle Society. The route markings you see on the Solvang Century and Prelude as well as other rides are called "Dan Henry Markers." He also invented the first recumbent bike with a front and rear suspension as well as a "sling" saddle. He was an advocate for cycling facilities in Santa Barbara County and the Dan Henry Bike Trail on Alamo Pintado and Grand Ave was named after him.
Dan was a supporter and participant in our rides, and even at age 98 came by to enthusiastically ask "how many riders this year?" Dan was one of a kind and will be missed.
